Erika attended Seneca College right out of high school for two years and received a certificate for the Social Service Worker Program. The following four years were spent at York University completing the Education and Psychology program and receiving a degree in both fields. Erika has over 12 years experience working as a gymnastics coach for Richmond Hill Gymnastics Club. This background has allowed her to implement many fitness elements into a classroom setting by showing her students the different ways that fitness can be fun! Erika is a primary/junior teacher with experience teaching English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Gym, and Computers. She can also teach Math up to grade 8 and English up to grade 10. For the past three years Erika has been working full-time as a grade 1,2 and 3 teacher at a private school in Richmond Hill. This job has given her the experience of having her own class and generating her own curriculum focused around the Ontario Standards of Education. Erika has completed an AQ course for Special Education part 1. This course has broadened her understanding of multiple learners and helped her build on her professional learning. She has been able to implement a variety of tools and strategies to help a variety of learners both inside and outside the classroom. Erika gets joy from helping children discover their own way of learning that works best for them. In her spare time Erika enjoys going to the gym, listening to a variety of music, and reading books!
